SINEAD O'DWYER SS20
Fashion month is well underway with everyone taking to Paris after both London & Milan. Promising graduate designer Sinead O'Dwyer has collaborated with Martina to create a unique collection developed using silicone materials shaped to the model's body. Wear Me Like Water was one of the most exciting shows this LFW taking place on Saturday afternoon underneath the main LFW venue. Having only graduated a year ago with a very promising graduate collection with SS20 being her debut on the LFW schedule. As part of the debut there was a screening of Wear Me Like Water shot by Steph Wilson known for her fine art & fashion approach to photography.
“When I was growing up, the way the body was presented in fashion and the media definitely contributed to issues my friends and I had with our own figures, and the unhappiness we felt when we couldn’t fit into things,” (Sinead O'Dwyer for Dazed)
All of the silicone pieces were modeled off of her close friend Martina following her previous collection which was shaped from another of her loved ones. Each piece is a celebration of the muse's body which conveys the emotion of support and sisterhood. The whole project was completed with a female cast and crew. The video consisted of models all shapes and sizes swimming through an outdoor pool with a birdseye view shot. Alongside all of this, a zine was produced that contained 44 beautiful pages showcasing bodies of all shapes and sizes in true Steph Wilson style. This all translates through to the show with diversity being at the forefront yet not needing to be explicitly spoken about.. & that's the beauty of this show in particular.
