Even at Coachella the fashion tables had turned, from models saying no to floral crowns in favour of vintage basketball vests and chokers (sorry Alexa Chung but you will be seeing plenty of these this summer), so its about time we ban the sequins, cultural appropriation and fringing, this is the IMM guides to rocking it during festival season, with the help of petite model Anne’s Coachella wardrobe check out our top trends for when it comes to festival dressing 2016.
.) Track yourself, before you wreck yourself; The boho chic look of wearing tie, dye, suede and bare foot are gone it is time to done a tracksuit, we suggest the unisex Supreme collection for cooler nights and days, otherwise pack your Adidas running shorts and personalised Mother Denim sweatshirt ( The perfect cover-up for being sleep deprived and forgetting your name). Sport Lux is a new introduction to festival wear from trainers and vintage 'Ralphy' Lauren caps becoming a signature look, if you want to create a more feminine festival look, take inspiration from VS model Josephine Skriver who took a vintage court-side look in cat eye shades and a Lakers shirt - Our suggestion? Invest in a Fila skort or pastel mini tennis skirt teamed with a sleeveless Lacoste Polo created the perfect cute festival look.
.) Now every girl loves a touch of glitter however there is a new decadent accessory creeping into streetwear - style your outfit with super-sized earings over hair garlands, match with a star print Wildfox Couture oversized jumper to create an alternative to boho-star print. Fancy dressing up? Festivals are a perfect time to play about and why not ditch the earings for a tiara -n spotted throughout fashion week from Dolce & Gabbana to Hedi Slimane’s kinderwhore army took to the catwalk in an array of dainty, crystal-covered numbers. Our curve model Fluvia also rocks a tiara in her editorial for Vol-up-2 - see the rest of the spread here.
.)If you haven't seen the Met Gala then seriously where have you been? We are drawing inspiration from this years theme futuristic; its time to ditch the sequins for metallics - From actress Kristin Stewart heavy silver eye-shadow to model Poppy Delevignes take on a futuristic flapper dress designed by Marchesa. However for a festival, rock the space look in a silver boilersuit - Rock the Nasa team look by having it knotted around your waist or with a low-fi turtle neck sweater after dark.
.) Slick it back; hair at a festival can be a nightmare, your straight hair is kinky by day two and that blow-dry you pre booked has lost all bounce - The solution? Slick it back just like Louis Vuitton on fashion week, embrace this look using Phytoplage Protective Sun Veil. Not feeling the slicked back look then the next hair appointment to book is at the braid-bar; with creative twists on the usual French plaits style. Get yourself a hair do that requires no brushing over the weekend and only needing a quick spray of dry shampoo, plus if you have plaits they look great teamed with a vintage trucker hat!
.) It is time to go Vinyl - bored of your Levi shorts? It is time to switch denim for vinyl; sport a snap-fastened mini with a lightweight sweater. The added extra? Rubber Hunter wellies. For us the vinyl look can only be complete with a rock t-shirt, check out Anne modelling for Kelly Cole USA in re-worked band tshirts alongside her shoot with London photographer Jordan Green and the best fashion snaps from Coachella 2016.
