A little #throwback post as we begin preparing our blog collaboration with our curve models, 'Calvin Klein meets Plus Size' so why not speak about that nude, that response and why women need to start supporting women.
This week has not only been the end of the fashion week marathon, with supermodels Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid and Emily Ratajkowski worked the catwalk for the Miu Miu finale. However apart from fashion week going crazy a new debate has blossomed in the last few days after Kim K released a nude and felt #liberated, but where do you stand on the nude front? Here at IMM where we support body diversity, change in the industry and women themselves - if a women wants to feel sexy then we believe a nude should no longer be poked at, questioned and seen as a shock to the internet. Kim's body has been criticised for years (from her cankles during pregnancy, to the 03 'you know what' with Ray J) but the question remains why is body/ slut shamming still occurring within the celebrity world and the industry many of our readers aspire to join.
Now, here at
IMM we are not on the Kardashian hype, frankly there family life has been on our screens for nearly a decade so it is a little boring. We are also not against the viewpoints of Pink, Chloe Mortez and Bette Midler - some viewpoints more jokey than others and Kim's comebacks were a whole lot of Kanye and not even a little bit humble...but why can't women be intelligent, spiritual and happy yet not feel comfortable enough to be sexy, flaunt there 'podgy' bits and confident enough to show others this is who I am. The word nude has been transformed into a dirty word and associated with shame and high school games, but no one asked questions when David Beckham got his kit off and no one could take their eyes of Chris Browns nude. Nonetheless, if a women does it that allows people to judge, body shame and reject that women's rights to do as she pleases; to do this the day where we should of been applauding women for being women, then no that isn't fair at all...
oh and Miley thinks you are Tacky AF. Rather then criticising a women for releasing a consensual image of her body, we could be supporting and helping others who are not as fortunate and coming together to celebrate how great it is to be female! Women nudity as stated by Rowan Blanchard isn't new, seen within art and cultute, in London you can see Tracy Emin's collections at the Tate and yet they are images of female nudity that have been continuously praised - so when does nudity become offensive.
If one thing is for certain this week: Kim has scorched some serious Twittersphere earth with her exposed parts. The consensus is split among celebrities, with some denouncing the original selfies, while others (such as Sharon) taking the pics as a symbol of empowerment. We don't know how long the #nudegate arguement will carry on for, but here at
IMM we support Kim's statement that enough is enough.
